Truck License Age

How old do you have to be to get a truck license? What is the age for a truck license? While answering these questions, it is also necessary to know the process of getting a Truck License. To get a truck license – CE class license, you must be 21 years old.

Like the truck driving license class, all other driving license classes have been adapted to European Union standards with the new law that came into force on 01.01.2016. While in the old system, a driver candidate who did not have a driving license could obtain a class D license by taking 2 exams, one theoretical and one driving, with the new law, the name of the truck driving license has been updated to class CE and the method of obtaining the license has also changed.

The person who will get the CE Class Truck License must first get a Class C (Truck License – Truck over 7500 kg) license and then change from C to CE. In order to get a Class C Truck license, it is a prerequisite to have a Class B license.

For example; When a Driver Candidate who is 21 years of age or older applies to our Göksu Driving School to get a Truck license, the first question that will be asked to the Driver Candidate will be, do you have a Class B license?

If the driver candidate has a class B license, he/she will first take the driving test from B to C and then take another driving test for the difference from C to CE and thus be entitled to receive the CE class Truck license. If the driver candidate does not have a class B license, he/she will first need to get a class B license and then make the difference from B to C and from C to CE.

Due to these prerequisites, it will take longer for a driver candidate who is over 21 and has no driver’s license to get a truck driver’s license. A Driver Candidate who has obtained a Class B driver’s license without waiting to turn 21 will be able to quickly obtain a Class CE truck driver’s license.
